What is Passive Income?

Passive income is defined as income that you can earn regularly, but where the effort to earn it will decrease over time. The name seems a little deceptive realistically, because there will always be some effort to earn it, however, as in the case of websites and affiliate sales, it does decrease markedly over time.

What  Passive Income is NOT

Many people envision working from home or making money from home as a career in writing or SEO, or any number of other services that that they might be able to offer. This is not passive income. It does not decrease in effort over time. You will be doing the same amount of work next year as you are this year if you enter into that kind of a working from home endeavor.

Likewise passive income is  not making money without having to build your business or do anything at all. To be honest, that concept just is not a reality. If you’re buying into the “I can get it all, I can get it now and I can get it free” concept, you’re buying into an illusion and whoever sold it to you– probably got a pretty penny for it. The bottom line is that over time, the work you need to do will be less and less, but right now,  you’re going to earn every dime that you make when you’re first starting.

Is Passive Income REALLY Passive?

True passive income from home will be something such as a website business, affiliate marketing or other things that you may do which will decrease in labor intensity as you build  your business. True passive income does not exist, since the word passive implies that you need not do anything to attain the funding.

Websites, Adsense advertising, affiliate marketing and other items such as this are passive income so far as a regular income. The fact is that you still need to add articles, to improve your content and to work on SEO. So we’ll  qualify that and say that at first, the labor is very intensive and no business is ever going to be run correctly without some effort involved in it.

How Do You Get Started?

That actually depends on the kind of income that you want to make. IF you’re interested–as most people are–in a website income from affiliate sales or Adsense, it’s not at all difficult to begin, but you do need some tools, some skills and some effort in order to begin to create your own passive income.

It’s as easy to make money from home for seniors as it is for the average 30 year old. Ways for senior citizens to make money from home are slightly limited, but with a website and enough initial effort anyone can accomplish it.

The learning curve is relatively low and you can start your new endeavor for as little as 200-300 dollars or as much as you’d like to put into it. Realistically, the economy today is such that everyone can use a little extra money. Creating your own passive income isn’t rocket science, no matter who tells you that it is, and there is very little reason for anyone not to attempt it.
